Daughter came home from school today with a report from the frontier of pre-adolescence:

> She and her (girl) friends often act out stories that they make up. The stories “always start with two girls trying to get away from something they don’t like.”

> A boy named Halen (possibly as in Van Halen) has been wooing her. Which at first meant that he was kind of a jerk, but which now has mellowed into him running past her and making goofy faces.

> She and her friend have taken to calling Halen “crazy banana head”–but, for the purposes of secrecy, they do so in Spanish, which (because she knows no Spanish) sounds like “cabazedeplaintainoloco.”

> When dealing with crazy banana heads, her motto is: “Our greatest weapon is the power of confusion.” Meaning: If you’re trying to get away from something you don’t like, start acting nutty.
