There was a lot at stake when the UVM asked us to help them refresh their visual identity, positioning, and messaging.
We worked alongside UVM’s communications team to articulate what felt inspiring and exciting about this moment in the university’s history: record enrollment, a push to R1 status, and a global emphasis on the university’s core strengths, including the health of people and the planet.
Simultaneously, we designed a compelling alternative to the school’s Old Mill logo, which didn’t fully represent the spirit of today’s UVM. After exploring a variety of “V” symbols, the university decided to build equity into the existing athletic “V” monogram, which had resonance on campus and in the community.
The university announced its new messaging and refreshed visual system in early 2024, and we’ve been delighted to continue our collaboration by working with colleges and units throughout the university to implement and tailor the brand platform to their specific use cases.
